Wandering up to Washington

Actually, it wasn't wandering, it was driving as fast as possible (whilst avoiding tickets) because six hours in a car with a baby just isn't blissful happiness. To break up the drive, we stopped at the Bonneville Dam to see the fish ladder and sturgeon ponds. Josh has been really into fish lately, even saying "ish" when he sees one. Luckily, there were lots of "ish" to be seen.
The first salmon that came by made him jump.
Then he was really excited...
...and had to get a closer look.
At the sturgeon ponds, Josh got to see some BIG fish.
He liked this little one a bit better then the monster 11 foot one.
Josh kept running back and forth between the windows giggling while he kept up with the fish. Pretty cute.

Once up in Washington, we went on two hikes with David's family.
Nephew Andrew was our guide, as well as my protector from snakes.
Luke and Andrew were awesome at keeping Josh entertained. I think I'll ask their mom if they can come down to visit for a month or so!
On the hike up to the mustangs, Josh hung out with cousin Luke. Josh wouldn't hold anyone else's hand, except Luke's.
The Mustangs are metal sculptures at the top of a very steep hill.
Which of course lends itself to pretty pictures...
...and climbing.
Here is the obligatory picture to prove that I was, in fact, present on this vacation.

It was only a short trip for the weekend. All too soon we were back on the road headed home. After a blown out tire and losing an hour in construction traffic, Josh was very antsy to get out, so we stopped at Multnomah Falls.
As per typical toddler behavior, Josh was more interested in tiny pieces of debris on the pavement then the beautiful waterfall.

Those fish were huge! I'm glad you ended up having a good time - bigger cousins are good entertainers for littler folk, too. :)

Oh my gosh, he is so cute! Your family is so cute for that matter. I didn't realize how huge salmon got. We miss seeing you on Sundays. Josh is quite the dude in his cap :)
